OpenAI hit with proposed class action over children's data
Jane Doe et al v. OpenAI Foundation et al (N.D. Cal. 3:26-cv-11781), filed on behalf of minors who use ChatGPT, alleges the chatbot is designed to elicit personal information from minors and use it for training, that minors cannot consent under California law, and seeks OpenAI equity for the class plus a declaration that the terms are void for minors. OpenAI responded that it strongly disagrees and pointed to its age-specific protections.
