Lawmakers ask the FAA to pause its DC-area AI flight-management tool

More than two dozen House members asked the FAA to pause the SMART pilot that assists Washington-area air traffic controllers, saying they have seen no safety evaluation or testing reports and no evidence safety personnel were trained on the tool, and seeking an answer by October 19. (The letter itself is dated October 9; it became public through reporting on October 13.)
