Gartner: more than $3.5T of AI infrastructure spending could face impairment by 2030

Gartner expects nearly $1 trillion of provider infrastructure spend in 2026 and another $6 trillion in 2027 to 2030, estimates data-center owners would need $8.5 trillion in cumulative revenue through 2030 to cover spend, financing and a 12 percent return, against at most $3.6 trillion in attributable AI revenue in its forecast, and predicts over 80 percent of neocloud providers will cease independent operations by 2030.
