Ampath Laboratories, one of South Africa's largest pathology networks, has notified regulators under POPIA of a data breach following an October 2, 2026 attack, with its public notice issued on October 13. The company says names, ID numbers, contact details, and medical aid membership and payment information may have been accessed. It states that no test results, diagnoses, or banking details were involved.

An attacker claim of 80 million rows is unverified and counts rows, not people. The number of affected individuals has not been published, so records are listed as pending.
